I start every day the same way:
My alarm goes off and I immediately hit the snooze button and use that 10 minutes to snuggle with my husband (or my puppy if the husband had to go to work early)
Morning meditations and prayer prior to even getting out of bed. I thank God for my family health and wellness as well as contemplate why I am one of the most blessed people in the world. If these kinds of prayers are difficult for you, then start with a morning mantra while your eyes are still closed. Things like, “I am going to have an amazing day!” or “I am going to get everything done successfully that I set out to do.” Even, “I am amazing, and the whole world is going to see it today!”
I get out of bed and head straight to the kitchen (after the requisite potty stop) and drink at least 16 ounces of water. You really should be drinking at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day. We all wake up dehydrated – worse if we were drinking wine the night before! If you aren’t a fan of just plain water, put a few drops of lemon or lime juice to give it a little flavor.
Don’t tell me you don’t have time. That’s why God made
I take 15 minutes, while I’m drinking my coffee, eating my breakfast, and listening to Sports Center (yes, I’m a sports junkie), to plan my day. I review my to-do list and put time blocks along where I’m going to get things done. I often add and subtract when my day is not being realistic. I also give myself deadlines to either get it done or move on to the next task and complete another day. I have a to-do list that is constantly changing, so I also often decide that I don’t have to do whatever the task is and delegate to someone else on my team or in my family. It is important to plan your day so you can see how much you have accomplished, knowing you did something even on our laziest days.
And now my well planned day starts…..
You really can choose to have a great day every day. Happiness is a choice! Choose to be Fit, Fifty and Fabulous with me!
