Yes, I do have a secret weapon that really helps in the digestive process and super-charges your weight regulation. This superfood is flaxseed granola! Yes, it’s that simple. I started eating flaxseed granola over two years ago for breakfast, and my husband can also attest to its superpower.

So why is flaxseed granola a superfood?

Let’s start with the facts.

Flaxseed is a relatively high fiber food, starch-free and moderate in fat and protein content so it’s very easy to digest. This healthy source of fiber is a great grain-free alternative to wheat bran.

It is also a good source of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) which is a form of omega-3 fatty acids. These are inflammation fighting super stars. They also help with balancing serotonin levels which regulate your mood, helping you choose happiness!

It helps boost the good cholesterol levels and eliminate bad cholesterols in the digestive process.

Plus, flaxseed’s fiber feed the good bacteria in your gut and helps regulate your gut flora which boosts your immune system and keeps your digestive system thriving. This fiber also aids in the absorption of key nutrients in the digestive process.

Best of all, this unique source of fiber, which unlike grains, contains no excess starch which mean that all of its carbs come from fiber that your body uses to get rid of wastes. It also contains magnesium which balances blood sugar levels and helps moderate insulin surges.  Flaxseed helps satiate you, so you feel fuller longer and also aids in the cleaning out process!

Lose the bloat + feel fuller longer + balanced waste elimination = weight regulation!

The benefits of adding flaxseed to your diet are well documented. Flaxseed really is packed with anti-oxidants and inflammation-fighting omega-3 fatty acids but be picky because not all flax is alike. As soon as you start grinding down the flax, the nutrients start to degrade rapidly; so many of the flax preparations you can buy already have lost much of their superpowers. The best way to get all the health benefits is to grind down the flax with your teeth! Granola is a great way to eat whole flax and just chew away. At first, I have to admit that I was skeptical, but the results are real! I add blueberries to my flaxseed granola and eat it with non-dairy rice milk. My husband prefers bananas.

Bottom line:

Flaxseed granola is an excellent superfood to add to your diet. It decreases inflammation, helps regulate hormones, balances mood health, helps in blood sugar regulation and improves overall digestion! Why not try it today!
